Google Flow in one sentence
Google Flow is an AI creative studio where you can generate and edit media inside a project instead of treating every prompt as an isolated result. Its current workflow includes video and image generation, reusable assets, characters, collections, editing, scene assembly and downloads.
Google Flow versus Veo
The names describe different layers:
Veo is Google’s generative video model family.
Gemini Omni Flash is another video model currently available inside Flow for generation and editing workflows.
Google Flow is the creative product that exposes supported models, project organization and editing tools.
This distinction matters when you search for an API. A Veo API can exist without there being a public API for the Flow application itself.
What Google Flow can currently do
Google’s help center documents these core jobs:
Generate video from text, start and end frames, ingredients and supported references.
Generate and edit project images.
Reuse characters, visual references and supported voice references.
Extend supported Veo clips.
Edit uploaded or generated video with Gemini Omni Flash where available.
Arrange clips in Scenebuilder and download a completed scene.
Organize media in projects, asset types and nested collections.
Use the optional Flow Agent to brainstorm, generate, edit and organize project media.
Exact controls depend on the active model, account, country and product rollout.
Who Google Flow is for
Flow is most relevant to creators who want a project workflow around AI-generated shots: filmmakers planning scenes, marketers developing product concepts, social creators testing short sequences and teams organizing reusable visual references.
It is less suitable when your primary need is a conventional multi-track editor, a local offline model or a provider-neutral API pipeline.
Is Google Flow free?
As of the verification date, Google says non-subscribers receive 50 free Flow credits per day. The models and features available to free users are narrower than the full paid workflow, and unused daily credits do not roll over.
Read the current pricing guide and credit guide before treating any allowance as permanent.
What Google Flow is not
Do not confuse the video-focused creative studio with Google Workspace automation products, Google Cloud data-flow products, Flow.ai or another product using “Flow” in its name. Google also documents a separate Flow Music experience; FlowTool’s current editorial scope is the visual creative studio.
Before you start
Check four changing facts:
Is Flow supported in your country and language?
Which models and features are available for your account?
How many credits will your intended generation consume?
Does your workflow need generation, editing, Scenebuilder or programmatic API access?
